With the complexity and technical developments of Public Transport Systems in these current times, the SEA Consult Group provide well qualified support teams to be integrated and coordinated with our team of experienced, qualified construction and  project managers, professional engineers and designers and supervisors to ensure that our clients receive the best designed transportation systems available.

It is for this reason that the SEA Consult Group are regularly called upon to work on projects with internationally renowned consultants who do not have a physical presence in Thailand. This fact is evidenced by the SEA Consult Group again to be appointed to provide certain sections of the new 30 km extension construction to start early 2012.

The SEA Consult Group, in partnership with leading USA consultant Louis Berger were appointed by the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) to provide construction supervision services for its Initial System Project. The project comprised of some 22 km of tunnels with 18 stations. The construction work was divided into five design-build contracts including:

  • Contract 1:  North Line 10 km of tunnels and 9 stations
  • Contract 2:  South Line 10 km of tunnels and 8 stations
  • Contract 3:  Track work for 20 km of line including depot
  • Contract 4:  Construction of the depot
  • Contract 5:  Lifts and escalators for all stations

Our duties covered supervision of contracts and included:

  • Design Review: Ensuring that all designs prepared by the design-build contractor were in compliance with the project outline design and technical specifications.
  • Construction Supervision: Responsibility for monitoring all construction activities on-site. This included quality assurance and safety as well ensuring that the works were constructed n accordance with the approved drawings and specifications. Our staff provided 24-hour supervision on-site and provided the necessary data for certification of payments according to construction milestones.
  • Contract Administration: Throughout the project, our team undertook all aspects of contract administration for the construction of the works. This included maintaining a data base of all technical documents and correspondence, review and approval of change orders, variations and claims made by the contractors, certification of payments according to the interim payment schedule for each of the three construction contracts, and providing project reporting covering cost, quality and time.
  • Progress Video: Completion of a monthly progress video of construction works and special events/ milestones as well as maintenance of an overall video record of the project.
